Austin-based Torchy’s Tacos is taking a beating on social media from Colorado residents after a local taco joint in Fort Collins, Colo., changed its name to appease the Texas chain, according to The Coloradoan newspaper. Colorado-based Dam Good Tacos recently changed its name to DGT after Torchy’s sued in U.S. District Court in April over their name’s similarity to Torchy’s slogan, “Damn Good Tacos.”
Dam Good Tacos opened as a truck in Basalt, Colo., in 2012 and now operates a location on Colorado State University’s campus, just a couple miles down the road from a Torchy’s Tacos. According to DGT’s website, along with their name change they’ve launched a new “Make Tacos Not War” marketing campaign.
But some on social media are taking sides, according to local radio station 94.3 the X – Front Range Alternative. Several on Facebook and Twitter stated their loyalty to the Fort Collins taco hotspot and are spurning the Texas chain.
